Main Types of Success

Knowing about types of success is important so that you can evaluate your success separately. Talking about success, there’re two main types of success:

  • External Success
  • Internal Success

External Success is the success you achieve through working on environment which is outside of yourself. This is related to outer things you mostly hang out with, but heavily depends upon your behavior and perspective towards outer-things like your finances, work, time education etc. External success is dependent on internal one.

While Internal Success is the one you achieve through working on yourself. This can also be known as Emotional Success. This is related to your own emotions, perspective, thoughts and mindset. This success is really very important. This also enhances the chance of achieving external success.

Myths about Being Successful

I cannot be successful because

  • I am ___ years old (Put your age in the blank)
  • I belong to ______ (Put your country’s name in the blank)
  • I have got no opportunities, actually
  • My time is bad.
  • People around me are bad.

The above given statements are false about being successful. This is true. You must now confess you have been wrong about it. No matter how old you are or which country you belong to, you can be successful. Success can become your destiny even if you have got no opportunities. Jacque Fresco was inspired by bad time (1929 Great Depression) and incompetent people (who caused that Great Depression), but he still rocked the whole world with his highly innovative designs. So, bad time and people cannot be the reason of your failure. Say ‘Good-bye Forever’ to all such myths about being successful.

Steps to Being Successful

  1. Define Your Own Meaning of Success

Defining your definition of success is literally the first step to your success. Defining what success really means to you is very important. How can you believe you are successful even if you have not set your ‘success’ path.  It’s just like deciding your own destiny. Answer to this question heavily depends upon your own thoughts – not on your own goals or aims.

  1. Recognize Your Passions & Goals

Working hard sucks? It really doesn’t when you are working on your passion. Your passion is one of the key steps to being successful. It let you know which area of life you can excel in. Success does not come easily. You have to work on it.

“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” – Rumi

Remember when you were child? And used to be very curious about the surroundings and the things that attracted you? It’s just natural. You are attracted towards some things. Those ones are actually your passions. Don’t let your age avoid you being that curious and passionate young baby. Recognize the passion and work on it to get success. It’s not that hard. Don’t let your fears fool you.

  1. Generate Your Ideas on Achieving Those Goals

Now as you have recognized your passion, start working on generating ideas to make them work. Think on the questions like: What’s the best thing you could do to work on your passion? What could you do to carry your passion on without being stressed? What benefit can you give other people through your passion? For example my passion is to conduct trainings and I have cofounded a youth council to do that. I conduct trainings on Self-Confidence, Career Development, and How-to-Be-Successful in my city town. This is how I benefit others. And this is main keyword for defining success in my definition. Generating ideas, here, is just like ‘Planning your goals’. You can brainstorm and mind map.

  1. Start Working on Ideas

Generating ideas is not enough; you have to work on it. Follow your plans to get your goals achieved. You don’t have to be worried about this step if and only if you have truly recognized your passion.

  1. Try Try Again Till You Succeed

Try try till you succeed is a famous mantra for a real success. It’s often said that if you want to increase the chance of success, increase the rate of failure. Now, it doesn’t mean that you just insisting on being failure. You are to learn from them so that you might not repeat them. But if repeated, don’t lose heart. Many times, you just leave on the point where success was very near. And knowing it is again even more pain. Avoid that pain and keep on trying. You are destined to be success. Mind it.

  1. Success is Yours

All necessary steps you have passed through. Now you just need to enjoy success. Celebration of success is a symbol of true success. Grab it with both of your hands and give it a big hug. But again don’t consider it’s the end of it. Success is continuous path. It’s not like destination. You have to move on. You just need to be happy and satisfied with your life. But if you are just mad enough to lose your inner peace, this is not called success, my dear. Tips on Being Successful
There are no hard or fast rules of success. But below given tips are really worth acting on, to start your journey onto success path.

  1. Think big – Start Little

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo Buonarroti, Great Renaissance Artist

I have heard many a times from the people complaining that they have a very little to start. So they are not starting it yet. Isn’t it a big silliness? Just think big! Starting little is not a problem. Winfrey was born into a poor family in Mississippi, but this didn’t stop her from winning a scholarship to Tennessee State University and becoming the first African American television correspondent in the state at the age of 19.

  1. Do What You Love or Love What You Do

  2. “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” – Rumi

Rumi has well said about love and work. Do the things you love to do. This doesn’t put stress in you. Work is no more work when done with love. You can try it yourself. If you love listening to songs, what if you get paid for it? Of course it’ll be great ‘work-with-fun’ condition. But there’s another case too. Sometimes people struck in their work so bad that they cannot think or do out-of-box. This is not a situation with successful people, though. If you can start loving what you do, start it right now. Try to think the ways you can get pleasure from doing your work. If there’s neither work to love nor love to work, there’s nothing like success thing in your life, sorry for being so straight, but it’s true.

  1. Don’t Intermingle Lives

Never ever intermingle or mix your personal, professional and social lives. This stops you to get fullest of your life. Be smart in creating and then maintaining balance in your different lives. You are what you are. But, don’t you have to behave different while you are your workplace and different when you are home? Don’t make your home your office and your office your home.

  1. Be a Man of Actions – Not Mere Words

Your words are really very very important. I am a firm believer of “Words are always precious.” I, as a writer, worship words (Especially those related to productive and courageous living and success). But actions are also important because they prove your words to be true. Without actions, your words are mere words – not the real words. If you have committed something to do, do it, come what may.

  1. Get Along with the People Properly

“The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Dealing with the people properly is tough and at the same time rewarding. You should feel the importance of freedom of speech, positivity and better time for going offline from people’s life when  needed. But being angry is not the solution. Anger feeds anger.

  1. Be Bold Enough to Be Innovative

“A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.”  – Mark Twain

Innovation in ideas is trillion dollar worth. To succeed, you have to challenge your old thoughts and cultural tradition. To make life more productive, keep trying innovative ideas. Be bold. Be innovative. Be success.

  1. Believe in Yourself

Believing in you is the key to success. Believe in your capacity and your core competencies. Walt Disney teaches us that if we can dream it, we can do it.

  1. Enjoy Positive Mental Attitude

Having positive mental attitude makes it more probable to success. Always maintain positive mindset towards things and people around. Many people are success today only because they always have positivity in their mind. Being positive is power and so is a must for success.

10. Be Happy Working Hard

“Unless you are willing to drench yourself in your work beyond the capacity of the average man, you are just not cut out for positions at the top.” – JC Penny, Founder of JC Penney Inc.

Working hard is firm road to success. I have nothing new to say here. Period.

11. Be Yourself – Be Better Version of Yourself

Be a better version of yourself. Life is really very important. And this is not just to be wasted out for the people you live with and the things you live on. Be yourself, no matter what obstacles are on the way. But that ‘yourself’ should be ‘better self’. Always look for improvements.
